Burying Tutsi victims in Memorial sites provided by the government is a way of giving them human value that they lost when they were killed, Oscar Nzeyimana the Mayor of Rusizi District said during the function to bury the remains of 33 genocide victims at Rusizi genocide memorial site on the 3rd.July.2012.
RUSIZI 33 remains of genocide victims laid to restIn this function, the genocide survivors from families of the deceased appreciated the way of getting the information where their relatives were buried so as to lay them to rest in respect which shows the extent of Unity and Reconciliation in Rwanda and that they will be able to let go after burying their relatives’ remains.
Oscar Nzeyimana thanked the families of the deceased to have cooperated with the administration and accepted to exhume those who were buried in different places in their families to bury them in the memorial site so as to be cared for by memorial site management.
Nzeyimana Oscar went on to say that when people are not buried in their rightful place it delays development of the people as the land of which people are buried would be needed for developmental projects.
It is expected that Nyarushishi genocide memorial site that is in Nkungu sector when it is completed fully, all genocide victims in Rusizi district will be transferred there because it will be big and up to date.
